We are based out of the Greenwood Tea Estate, which is located in Kutuha Village within the Borboruah Tehsil of Dibrugarh District. This is where Assam Company India Ltd operates on the ground. Being on a tea estate means our daily life is very connected to the land and the weather. We spend our time managing the fields and the processing areas. It is a lot of green space out here, which is a big change from the crowded cities. The village of Kutuha is a quiet place, and most of the people living around here are involved with the tea in one way or another. We have a lot of work to do during the harvest times when the bushes are growing fast. The roads around the estate are sometimes a bit rough, especially after the heavy rains that are common in Dibrugarh. We don’t have a fancy office; we mostly work out of the buildings on the estate. It’s a very hands-on job. We have to keep track of the plucking schedules and make sure the factory is running okay. It’s not a corporate lifestyle at all; it’s more about the dirt, the leaves, and the seasons. We just focus on the daily tasks of running the estate and making sure the tea is handled right before it goes out to wherever it’s headed next. It gets very humid here, but that is good for the plants. We just take it one day at a time, looking after the estate and the village surroundings.
