Gopal Rice Mills

Gopal Rice Mills is located on Boha Road. It is a simple place with a big metal gate and a gravel driveway that makes a lot of noise when trucks pull in. We have been operating here for a while now, and the routine hasn't changed much. The morning starts with the sound of the generators kicking in. It is a steady thrum that you stop noticing after the first hour. Boha Road is a busy route, so we get a lot of people stopping by just to ask directions or see what the price of grain is today. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us near the loading docks or in the small room we use for breaks. There is always a layer of fine dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. That is just the nature of working with rice. We focus on the daily tasks, making sure the moisture levels are right and the bags are stacked properly so they don’t fall over. It is a lot of repetitive work, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels good. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most modern mill around. We just want to keep the machines running and the gates open for the local farmers.
