Bhagyasheel Bakery

Over here in Kumar Nagar, things are usually a bit quieter than they are in the middle of the city. Our place, Bhagyasheel Bakery, is tucked away in a spot that mostly the locals know about. We do not get many strangers or tourists coming through here, just the families who live in the nearby streets. It is a small operation with one big oven in the back and a modest display area up front. Every day follows the same sort of pattern. We mix the dough, wait for it to rise, and then spend hours baking. Sometimes the power goes out unexpectedly and we have to move fast, but that is just part of living here. The smell of the fresh bread usually brings people in around four in the afternoon when they are looking for a snack. We make a lot of rusk and local treats that people like to have with their tea. It is not a very bright or modern place. The walls could probably use some new paint but we are always too busy with the baking to get around to it. We take orders for birthday cakes sometimes, although we are not professional artists. We just make sure the cake tastes good and is ready on time. My brother handles the heavy sacks of flour while I talk to the customers. It is a decent way to make a living.
