Monchay Ice Factory

Monchay Ice Factory is located over in Khagrabari on Station Road. We make ice blocks mainly for the local shops and fishermen who need to keep their stuff cold. It’s a noisy place because of the machinery running all day and night. The floor is usually wet, which is expected at an ice factory. We’ve been at this spot for years. People come with their trucks or rickshaws to pick up what they need. We don't have a sales team or a fancy office. Most of the time, we’re just busy freezing water and moving the heavy blocks around. It’s hard work, especially in the summer when everyone wants ice at the same time. The building is just a plain structure on Station Road, nothing that stands out much. We don't do any big marketing. If someone needs ice in this part of town, they usually know to come to us. We just focus on keeping the machines running so we don't run out. It’s a very basic operation. We don’t have any fancy titles here, just people working the shifts. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to manage with the backup, but that’s just how it is. Being near the station area makes it easy for transport to get in and out. We just keep our heads down and produce what's needed for the day. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone has to make the ice for the local market.
