Durga Bhandar

Durga Bhandar is located on West Khagrabari Road, right in the middle of Bamunpara. It’s part of Ward No.01, so we see the same faces every single morning when we open up. It’s more of a neighborhood hub than just a store to us. We sell a bit of everything, from snacks and biscuits to household items that people run out of suddenly in the middle of cooking. The shop isn't very big, and the walls are covered with small shelves that reach up to the ceiling. We try to keep things in some kind of order, but in a small place like this, things tend to wander into the wrong spots. Sudhangshu Nagar is a quiet enough area, but our corner stays active with people coming and going. We spend a lot of time just talking to the neighbors who stop by for a small thing and stay for a ten-minute chat. It’s not about being a big corporation. We are just local people running a local shop. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have empty spots on the shelf for a day or two. We just tell the customers to come back tomorrow or the day after. It’s an honest way to live. We’ve grown up in this area, so we know the history of the houses around us. When the sun goes down, we turn on the yellow lights and keep going until it's time for dinner. It’s a simple routine, and it works for us. We don't really need much more than that.
