We are located at Plot No 74/75, right across from the Swaminarayan Temple in Mayur Nagar on Halvad Road. The temple is a good landmark because everyone knows it. We spend our days working with different kinds of stone, carving and shaping things out in the open air. The sound of chisels and hammers is constant around here. It’s a bit of a mess with all the stone chips and dust on the ground, but we sweep up every evening. Being on Halvad Road means there is always traffic going by, but we don’t mind the noise. We have a small shed for when it rains, but most of the work happens outside. Our team is small, just a few guys who have a real feel for the material. We don't have a website or a big sales pitch. People usually see our work as they drive past or they hear about us from someone in town. It’s a slow process, you can’t rush stone or it might crack. We keep a few finished pieces out front so people can see what we do. The sun can be brutal in the afternoon, so we take a long break then. It’s a simple life, focused on the craft and making sure we stay busy enough to keep the lights on. We enjoy being near the temple; it brings a bit of peace to the workday.
