Purva Traders

Purva Traders. We are over in Ward No.1, Shop No.37, in Rup Nagar Village. It’s right on the Station Road, so you can hear the trains passing by quite often. We’re also opposite the PWD office and not too far from the Dhemaji Post Office. It’s a busy little hub of activity. The road is always full of people walking to the station or waiting for the bus. We deal with various trading goods. The shop is narrow but deep, and we’ve got boxes piled up everywhere. It’s a bit of a maze back there. I’ve lived in Dhemaji my whole life, so I know most of the people who walk past. We open up early, usually before the first big train comes through. During the floods, it can get a bit stressful because the water comes right up to the edge of the road, but so far we’ve stayed dry. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to do it. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and a very old calculator that still works perfectly. It’s not a glamorous job, just buying and selling and keeping track of the inventory. We just take things one day at a time here. If a customer is looking for something specific, we try to find it in the mess. It’s just how we run things in Rup Nagar, keeping the shop open no matter what.
