If you take the ferry over to Majuli, you will find Dgl Exports Private Limited. We are located in Jengraimukh Lakhimi, right across from St. Pauls School. Living and working on the river island is different from being in Jorhat or any other big town. Everything has to come and go by boat, which makes our export business quite interesting. The office is a simple building where we keep our files and meet people. We look out and see the school kids playing or the people passing by on their cycles. We focus on getting things off the island and into the hands of buyers. It involves a lot of planning because of the river crossings. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment, just the basics to get the job done. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we have to be patient with the paperwork. We have a small group of people working here, and we all know each other well. It is a friendly place. We don't put on any acts about being a big international firm. We are just local people trying to sell products from our region. It is a lot of hard work, especially when the water level changes during the monsoon, but we enjoy the challenge of working from Majuli. It is just our daily life here.
