Vaidya Super Market

Our place, Vaidya Super Market, is situated at 66 P1, Pb Road, right opposite the Hescom office in Laxmi Nagar. Being across from a big office means we see a lot of people during the lunch hour and right after five o'clock. The shop has these big glass doors that we have to clean constantly because of the fingerprints. Inside, the aisles are a bit narrow, especially when we have crates of cold drinks sitting on the floor waiting to go into the fridge. We keep the basics like bread, eggs, and snacks near the front because people are usually in a hurry. Further back, you will find the heavier stuff like laundry detergents and floor cleaners. The PB Road traffic is always humming in the background, which you get used to after a while. We have these overhead fluorescent lights that hum a little bit too. Most of our day is spent checking the dates on packets and making sure the fridge is actually keeping things cold. We don't do anything special here; it’s just about keeping the shelves stocked with whatever the Laxmi Nagar families are looking for. The floor is made of white marble that shows every bit of dirt, so one of us is usually holding a broom. It is just a regular shop where we do our work and go home when the sun goes down.
