Sp Auto India is located out at Plot No. 115 in the Belur Industrial Area, which is a bit of a drive from the main town. The area is quite vast and the roads are usually dusty from all the heavy trucks passing through to the different factories. Our plot is basically a big industrial shed where we keep all the auto parts and machinery. It’s a quiet place in the mornings before the work really kicks off, but once the machines start, it’s a different story. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving between the storage racks and the assembly area. The floor is concrete and has those inevitable oil stains that you find in any auto-related business. We have a small cabin for the paperwork, but most of the time is spent out on the floor. The sun beats down on the metal roof, making it pretty hot by midday, so we have a few big industrial fans going constantly. There isn’t much around here in terms of shops or cafes, so we all bring our lunch boxes and eat together in the small break area. It’s a straightforward environment where the focus is just on the parts and the orders. The commute out to Belur can be long, but once we are here, there’s plenty to keep us busy until the sun starts to go down. It is just a typical industrial unit where we do our daily work.
