Our place, Dharwad Big Mishra Pedha Private Limited, sits on the G A Mishra Farm House. We are located near Navodaya School in Kyarkoppa. Being in Dharwad, everyone knows about pedha, but we do things our own way here at No. 297/1. It’s a bit of a distance from the main city noise, which is actually quite nice for the work we do. There’s a lot of history with this name, but we try to keep it grounded. Most mornings start early because the milk and ingredients won’t wait. You can usually smell the sweets being prepared if the wind is blowing the right way. It’s not a shiny factory with robots. We have real people stirring the pots and packing the boxes by hand. The farm house setting gives it a different feel than a regular shop in the market. We have plenty of space, though it gets a bit muddy during the monsoon season. We don't spend much on advertising or big signs. People around here know where we are. It’s a family-style environment where everyone knows each other’s names. We have had some long days where the orders are piling up, but we just put our heads down and get through it. It is simple, sweet-making work that has been part of this area for a long time.
