We run this rice mill over on Achalpur Road in Amravati. It is right near the Jain Mandir, which makes it pretty easy for people to find us when they are coming into town. We have been working out of this spot for a good while now. The building isn't anything fancy, just a practical space where we keep the machinery going and handle the grain coming in from the local fields. My father started things here and now we just keep the tradition moving along day by day. You can usually hear the sound of the husking machines from the street. It gets really dusty inside, especially when the harvest season is in full swing and trucks are lined up outside. We mostly deal with local farmers and some traders who need their paddy processed. It is a lot of heavy lifting and long hours, but that is just how the rice business works around here in Achalpur. We don't spend much time in the office because there is always something to fix or a bag that needs moving. We just try to get the work done and make sure the rice is cleaned properly before it goes out. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, but we usually get back to it soon enough. It’s a simple operation, nothing like those big corporate places you see in the cities. We just focus on the grain and the farmers.
