Balaji Bricks

Our yard is located right at 2-16/85 on Gita Bhawan Road. It's a busy enough spot, so there’s always noise from the traffic going past. We’ve been Balaji Bricks for quite some time, and the place has grown on us. The office is really just a small room where we keep the books and escape the sun for a bit. We spend the bulk of our day outside. The bricks come in, and then they go back out on different trucks. It’s a lot of lifting and counting. Sometimes we lose track of time talking to the drivers who come in from all over the area. Gita Bhawan Road has changed over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We have different piles for different needs, and I try to keep them straight, though the kids sometimes run through and mess things up. It's a local business through and through. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. We don’t have a big fancy website or anything; people just know we’re here because they see the stacks from the street. The weather is the biggest boss we have; if it pours, we just sit inside and drink tea until it clears up. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Usually, we are here until the light fades, just tidying up the loose bricks and checking the gates are locked tight.
