Sri Muruga Bhavan Hotel

Being on the Salem Main Road means we see a lot of people passing through. We are in Toppur, right near the Muniappan Temple. You can hear the bells sometimes when it’s quiet. We start early, way before the sun is up. The kitchen gets hot fast. We make a lot of coffee for travelers. It’s a simple place. The tables are basic and we keep them clean. People stop here because they are tired from driving. We see families and truck drivers all day long. The address is No 5/33 and we have been here for a good while. We don't do anything special, just cook what we know. The smell of the food hits you as soon as you pull over. It’s a lot of routine. Chop, cook, serve, wash. We do it over and over. Sometimes the rain comes down hard on the roof and it’s the only thing you can hear. We like the busy hours because they make the day go by fast. When it’s slow, we just stand by the door and watch the cars go toward Salem. It’s a decent life here by the road. Most people are just in a hurry to get somewhere else. We are just the stop along the way. We don't have a fancy menu or anything. Just the usual things we have always made.
