If you are driving down Adhiyaman Bye Pass Road in Dharmapuri, you’ll see the Hotel Saravana Bhavan. Our office is right near there, at No 100 on the second floor. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows where to eat. Being on the second floor means we get a bit of a breeze, which is nice in the summer heat. We deal with chit funds, which keeps us fairly busy throughout the month. The stairs can be a bit steep, so take your time coming up. Inside, it's mostly stacks of paper and the sound of the calculator. We've got a small team of local people working here. We aren't doing anything flashy. Most of our members are people we see at the market or at the temple. They stop by to check their balance or drop off their monthly share. We try to keep the books tidy, though sometimes things get a bit messy during the end of the month rush. It’s a practical business. We don't have a receptionist in a suit; you just walk in and talk to whoever is at the desk. We’ve been in Dharmapuri for a bit now and we like being part of the local scene.
