Arulraj Earth Movers

We’ve been at 908 Arumuga Achari Street for a good while now. It’s right across from the bus stand, so you probably see our machines parked out there when we aren't out on a job site. Arulraj Earth Movers is mostly just a few of us who know how to handle the heavy stuff. My father started things years ago and we just kept it going. It’s usually pretty loud around here with all the buses coming and going, but you get used to it after a few months. Sometimes the dust from the road gets into everything in the office. We spend a lot of our mornings checking the oil and making sure the tires are okay on the loaders. People stop by just to ask directions to the bus stand sometimes and we don't mind. The street gets busy during the festival times and parking a big trailer is a nightmare then. We try to get out to the sites early before the traffic picks up too much. It isn't fancy work, just moving dirt and clearing out spaces for people building things. Most days it’s just us drinking tea and waiting for the next phone call or someone walking in from the street. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we set up shop here. The buildings are getting taller and there's more concrete than there used to be. Anyway, that is pretty much what goes on here every day at our spot.
