G. C. Chandak & Sons

G. C. Chandak & Sons is tucked away at Plot No.-3/14 in Marwadi Gali. If you know the area, you know how narrow and busy the Gali can be. It’s a traditional family business that has been passed down through a few generations now. My grandfather was the one who first opened the doors, and the way we do things hasn't changed all that much since then. We deal in various goods and supplies that the local people need. The shop is filled with a bit of everything, and it has that old-fashioned smell of wood and paper. We don't have a big staff, just family members and a couple of guys who have helped us for a long time. We sit on the floor on cushions when we talk to our regulars, which is the way it’s always been done here. We don't bother with things like social media or digital marketing. People know where we are and they know they can get an honest deal from us. It’s a quiet way of living, even if the street outside is loud. We spend our time managing the stock and keeping our handwritten ledgers up to date. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the shop when a few people come in at once, but we just take our time and serve everyone as they come. It’s about being part of the community here in Marwadi Gali more than anything else for us.
