Om Sakthi Emu Farm

Life out here on Alangiyum Road is a bit different than being in the middle of a big city. We are situated at No. 30 Thiru Malaipalyam Pirivu, and it's mostly about the birds. Emu farming takes a lot of time and you can't really take a day off because they need to be fed and looked after every single day. We spend a lot of our time outdoors in the dust and the sun. It’s not exactly a clean job, but it’s what we do. The road can get quite busy with tractors and trucks going back and forth, but inside the farm, it’s just the sound of the emus. We started this place because we had the land and the interest. It’s a lot of manual labor, cleaning out the enclosures and making sure the water is fresh. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice, and we have to scramble to keep everything okay. People from the nearby villages sometimes stop by to see what an emu even looks like. We just show them around. It’s not a polished operation with uniforms or anything. We wear what’s comfortable for working in the dirt. At the end of the day, we’re just tired and ready to head home. Om Sakthi Emu Farm is just our way of making a living out here in Thaluk Kondar Asampalayam. We didn't plan on being farmers forever, but the work grew on us over the years and we just kept at it.
