Kamal Jeet Singh & Sons is a family business based at 16/187, Umad Kadu in Dharampur. Our shop is located near the Sundaram Maligai Shop, which is a well-known landmark for anyone living around here. We’ve been working out of this space for many years now, and it feels like home to us. It’s a simple setup with high shelves and a lot of bags stacked on wooden pallets to keep them off the floor. My sons and I handle the daily operations, from taking orders to loading up the small van for deliveries. The street outside is usually quiet, but it picks up in the evenings when people are heading home. We don’t have a fancy showroom or any big advertisements. Most people know us just by our name or because they’ve seen us working in the shop. It gets a bit dusty inside, as you’d expect with this kind of work, but we try to keep it as tidy as we can. We have an old desk where we keep the accounts and a phone that rings more often than you’d think. There is a small bench out front where neighbors sometimes stop to chat for a bit. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the people who come to us get what they need. It’s a steady life and we like the community in Dharampur.
