N K Bricks

Out here in Gokul Nagar Society, Gali No. 65, we keep things pretty straightforward. We are in the Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha district. If you are looking for us, we are right near the Mother Dairy. The smell of the dairy is often in the air when the wind blows the right way. Our lot is filled with bricks and the sounds of work. It gets extremely hot in this part of Gujarat, so we start very early in the morning before the sun really starts to bite. By mid-afternoon, we are usually looking for the coolest spot in the yard to wait out the heat. We do not have a big corporate office; it is just a small cabin with some chairs and a dusty fan. Most of our customers are folks from the surrounding societies or nearby villages. We handle the loading ourselves or with a couple of helpers who have been with us for a long time. There is nothing polished about what we do. It is all about the red clay and the fire. We keep a simple notebook to track what goes out and what comes in. The roads around here can be a bit tight for the bigger trucks, but we make it work. It is just a regular local business, trying to stay busy and keep the yard moving.
