Vicky Kirana

Vicky Kirana is a small grocery store located on Durga Mandir Road in the Hirapur area of Dhanbad. We are right by the Shiv Mandir, so the location is very familiar to anyone who lives nearby. The shop is usually filled with the basics that every household needs, like tea, sugar, cooking oil, and pulses. We don't have much room for fancy stuff, so we stick to the things that move fast. Every morning starts with moving some of the heavier sacks outside to make a bit more room for people to stand inside the shop. It’s a tight squeeze when more than three people are here at once. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the families by name and what they usually buy on a Tuesday versus a Saturday. The counter is a bit worn out, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. Dealing with the daily deliveries and the heat can be a bit tiring, but it’s the life of a shopkeeper in Dhanbad. We don't spend money on advertising; people just know we are here because they pass the temple every day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a small flashlight to find things on the back shelves. It is just a normal, everyday kirana shop serving our neighbors on Durga Mandir Road.
