Tahir Rashan Shop

This ration shop is located right on Durga Mandir Road in Hirapur, Dhanbad. We are very close to the Shiv Mandir, so we hear the temple bells ringing throughout the day. The shop is mostly filled with big sacks of rice, flour, and different kinds of lentils. There is always a bit of dust in the air from the grain, and the smell of raw sugar and spices is quite strong. We spend most of our time weighing things out on the old scales and tying up bags for the local families who come to us every week. It is a very practical place. We don't have any decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and shelves piled high with goods. The customers are mostly people who live in the narrow lanes nearby and have been coming here since they were young. We know who prefers which brand of oil or who always wants a little extra discount on their dal. The work is physical, lifting heavy bags and stacking them properly so they don't fall over. During the festival seasons, the road outside gets extremely crowded with people going to the mandir, and our shop becomes a bit of a resting point for some. We just keep our heads down and get the orders filled. It is just a regular shop serving the people around Hirapur in our own way.
