Sunny Stores

Sunny Stores is another one of those shops on Station Road in Dhanbad. We’ve been here for quite a while, watching the city change around us. It’s a busy area, always filled with the smell of diesel and the sound of horns. Our shop is where people come for their regular household stuff. We keep things like toothbrushes, washing powder, some tinned foods, and plenty of sweets for the kids who stop by after school. The shelves are made of old wood and they groan a bit under the weight of the stock. We don’t have any fancy marketing or a website. Most of our business comes from people who live right here in the neighborhood or those walking to the train station. It’s a lot of work to keep track of what’s running low, and sometimes we forget to order things until the last packet is gone. That’s just how it happens when you’re busy. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Dhanbad. We just want to be the one that’s open when someone needs a pack of cigarettes or some sugar for their tea. The nights can get a bit lonely once the main crowd leaves, so we usually just sit by the door and watch the remaining rickshaws go by until it’s time to pull down the shutter and head home ourselves. It is a slow process but we are used to the rhythm of this road now and stay patient.
