Shri Ram Tilkut Bhandar

Shri Ram Tilkut Bhandar is situated in the Kendua area near Bank More here in Dhanbad. If you know this part of town, you know it is one of the busiest spots around. We spend most of our time getting things ready for customers who are passing through. Being near Bank More means there is always noise and movement outside. We focus on tilkut and other traditional items that people like to take home. The smell of roasted sesame and jaggery is usually what tells people they are close to the shop. It is a small place and we have been here for years. During the winter months, it gets very crowded because everyone wants fresh tilkut. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a few of us working together. Sometimes the line gets long and people have to wait on the sidewalk. Dhanbad 826001 is where we belong. We don’t use any big machines, mostly just doing things the way they have always been done. The shop is quite simple with wooden benches and old counters. We see a lot of people coming from the station or the main market. It is hard work, especially when it is hot, but we like being part of the Bank More community. We just keep things moving and hope the stock lasts through the day. That is the way we run things here every day of the week, just keeping busy with the locals who come by for a taste.
