Shankar General Store

Shankar General Store is located right on Rani Road in the Bhuda part of Dhansar, Dhanbad. We are very close to the highway bridge, so we get a lot of people passing through as well as the locals. It is a basic shop where we sell things like snacks, cold drinks, cigarettes, and daily groceries. The location near the bridge means it can get quite noisy with the trucks and cars going by all the time. The shop itself is just a simple room with shelves lined along the walls. I spend most of my day sitting by the front, greeting people and handing out change. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use a flashlight to find things for customers, but that is just how it is in Dhanbad. We have been here at this address for quite a few years. My younger brother helps me during the busy morning hours. We do not have any complicated systems; we just know where everything is. It is a practical business. We do not try to be anything we are not. If you need a quick packet of biscuits or some washing powder, we are here. Most of our regulars live just a few streets away in Bhuda. We do not really do any fancy promotion. We just open up every morning and see who comes by. It is a steady life, and we are happy to be part of the neighborhood. The bridge is a good landmark.
