Samtai Bhandar

Samtai Bhandar is located right near the pool at Bhuli More in the Naya Bazar area of Dhanbad. It’s a very busy intersection and there is always some kind of noise or activity happening just outside the door. The air here in Dhanbad can be quite heavy with coal dust, so everything in the shop gets a bit grimy if we don't keep up with the cleaning. I spend a lot of time wiping down the glass jars where we keep the loose snacks. We sell a variety of everyday items, mostly things for the kitchen and general household stuff like brooms or buckets. Being so close to the pool means a lot of people pass by on their way to different parts of the city. The shop itself is fairly old and you can see a bit of a sag in the wooden shelves from the weight of all the heavy bags of grain we store there. We don't have any of that fancy modern lighting, just a couple of long tube lights that flicker sometimes when the power is low. During the rainy season, the water often splashes up from the road near the pool, so we have to move the bags of rice to higher ground. It is a simple life running this place in the 826001 area. We start early and close up once the streetlights come on and the traffic finally starts to slow down.
