Pooja Bhandar

Pooja Bhandar is our little shop situated at Kendua Pool in the Kusunda area of Dhanbad. We mostly handle items that people use for their daily prayers and local festivals. You’ll find incense sticks, cotton wicks, small brass lamps, and various powders used in rituals. The shop has a specific smell, a mix of sandalwood and flowers, which is quite nice compared to the exhaust fumes outside on the road. Being near Kendua Pool means we see a lot of foot traffic. People stop by on their way to the temple or before a holiday. It’s not a big business, just a few of us working here to keep things organized. The shelves are quite crowded because there are so many small things to keep track of. During the big festival seasons, it gets very hectic and we barely have time to sit down. The rest of the year is more relaxed. We know a lot of the local families who have been coming to us for years to get their supplies. We don’t try to be anything we aren't; it’s just a place to get what you need for your home altar. Sometimes the stock gets delayed, or the rain makes the entrance a bit difficult, but we manage. The building is simple, and we like it that way. It’s been our workplace for a long time and we feel part of the neighborhood. We don't have fancy lights or anything.
