Nikender General Store

We are located over at Mamko More in the Parvatam Complex. It’s a sturdy building and we have a decent spot on the ground floor. Being in Dhanbad, you get used to the noise of the trucks going past. We sell everything from plastic buckets to small packets of shampoo. It’s a general store in the true sense. We don't specialize in one thing. My son comes in after his classes to help me move the heavy sacks. We keep a ledger for everything we sell. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things but it works for us. The shop stays open quite late because that’s when people get off work and remember they need something for dinner. We have a small radio that stays on in the background. It keeps us company during the slow hours in the middle of the afternoon. We don’t have fancy displays. The goods are just on the shelves where people can see them easily. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the doorway, so we have to keep an eye on that. We know the other shopkeepers in the complex pretty well. We share tea sometimes when it’s quiet. It’s a simple business. We buy things, we sell things, and we hope the customers are satisfied enough to come back next week. No big plans, just keeping the shop running day by day. We like being part of the noise at Mamko More.
