We don't really have a physical office where people come to visit us, which is why the address just says to send things by email. Ncpl operates mostly in a digital way these days. It started out as a way to keep things simple and avoid the high costs of renting a big space in the city. Most of us work from our own spaces and we use email for almost everything we do. It’s a bit different from the traditional shops or offices you see on the street. Sometimes it’s a bit of a challenge because you don't have that face-to-face interaction, but we make it work through long message threads and sending files back and forth. We don't have a sign or a lobby or a coffee machine for guests. It’s just us behind our screens handling the work as it comes in. If someone needs to reach us, they just type out an email and wait for a reply. It’s a practical way to run things in this day and age, even if it feels a little less personal than a brick-and-mortar building. We spend a lot of time checking our inboxes to make sure we didn't miss anything important. It keeps the overhead low and lets us focus on the tasks without worrying about office maintenance or long commutes. It’s a lean way of doing business, and it seems to suit us just fine for the time being.
