Maa General Store

Down in Dhanbad, specifically at Bata More in Jharia, is where you will find Maa General Store. Jharia is a busy place with a lot of history, and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but it gets the job done. We sell the things that families around here need for their homes. From detergents to some pulses and maybe some candy for the kids. The dust from the road comes in sometimes, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. It’s just me and my family usually. We don’t have a website or any of that new stuff. People just know where we are because we’ve been at Bata More for ages. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just sit and watch the people go by, and other times it’s so busy we can’t even catch our breath. We try to keep prices fair because we know everyone in the area works hard. It's a simple business. We buy things, we put them on the shelf, and we sell them to our neighbors. We don't have big dreams of becoming a supermarket. We are happy just being the local store where you can pick up a liter of oil or a bag of sugar. Jharia is our home, and this shop is just our way of being a part of it every day.
