Maa Durga Work Shop

We run this workshop at Baniyahir No 10 in Jharia, not far from the Durga Mandir. It is a place where there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the hum of a machine running. We deal with a lot of repair work and making small parts that people need for their vehicles or machines. The floor is usually covered in a bit of oil and metal shavings but that is just how a workshop is. We have a lot of tools hanging on the walls and everything has its own spot even if it looks messy to an outsider. Being near the temple means we hear the bells ringing in the morning and evening. Many workers from the Dhanbad area stop by when something breaks down and they need a quick fix. My clothes are always stained with grease but I don't mind it much. We don't have a front office or a waiting room. People just stand around and watch us work or go sit under the tree outside. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. Sometimes we have to work late if there is a big job that needs to be finished. We don't use any fancy computers to design things, we just use our hands and the old machines we have had for years. It is a simple life centered around the tools and the people who need them to get back to work.
