Out here in Dhanbad, we are based in the 828122 zip code area. It’s a rugged place to work, especially with all the mining and construction activity happening around Jharkhand. Our office for the ECC division is right in the thick of it. It’s a very practical space that focuses on the ground reality of engineering. The floors are often a bit dusty because people are always coming in from the project sites. We don’t have any fancy furniture, just sturdy desks and plenty of chairs for when the site supervisors stop by for meetings. The heat can be quite intense during the summer months, so we keep the fans going all day long. It’s a noisy environment with phones ringing and people talking over the sound of the street. We handle a lot of the logistics and supply chains from here. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything moving on schedule. We usually eat our lunch together and talk about the challenges at the different sites. It’s a very hands-on kind of office. We don’t spend much time on fancy presentations; we just look at the numbers and the plans to see what needs to be done next. The local area has a few small stalls where we get our daily snacks. It’s a simple, hardworking life for the staff here. We’ve been part of this community for a long time and we just focus on the daily grind.
