Kumar General Stores

Kumar General Stores is located on Purana Bazar Road here in Dhanbad. This street is always moving, with bikes and people everywhere. Our shop has been here through many seasons. It is just a typical general store where you find the stuff you forgot to buy at the big market. We stock things like rice, pulses, oil, and maybe some stationery for the kids. The shelves are wooden and a bit old now, but they hold everything just fine. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. Sometimes the stock arrives late and the shop looks a bit empty for a few hours, but we manage. It’s mostly just the same faces every day, neighbors who live nearby or work in the other shops around Purana Bazar. The ceiling fan makes a bit of noise in the summer, and the counter is worn down where people lean on it. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Dhanbad. We just want to make sure the locals can get their daily essentials without having to travel too far. It’s a lot of work, lifting heavy bags and counting out small change, but it's what we do. We open up, set out the jars of candy on the front desk, and see who comes by. That's our day from start to finish. It is hard work, but we are used to it by now.
