Kikki General Store

Kikki General Store is located right by the Bar Tand bus stand in Dhanbad. Because of the location, we see a lot of travelers who are either catching a bus or just got off one. We keep things that people might need in a hurry, like bottled water, snacks, notebooks, and pens. The shop is often dusty because of all the buses moving around nearby, so I spend a lot of time with a duster in my hand. It is not a place where people spend a lot of time; they usually just grab what they need and go. The area is always noisy with conductors shouting and horns honking. We have a small counter and the items are piled up behind it. Sometimes when the electricity goes off, it gets a bit dark inside, but we have a torch ready. I’ve worked here for a long time and I’ve seen the bus stand change quite a bit, but the shop stays mostly the same. We don’t do any advertising; people just see the sign when they walk past the station. It’s a fast-paced spot but we try to keep things organized so we can find the change quickly. There isn't much space to sit down, so we stay on our feet most of the day. It is a practical business for a busy place like Dhanbad. We just provide the basics for the journey and try to keep enough items on the shelf. That is all there is to it.
