About Janki Kirana Store – Food & Beverages in Dhanbad
If you go to Mamko More in Dhanbad, you will find us in the Parvatam Complex. We have been here for a few years now. The shop is full of bags of rice and flour. It smells like spices and old paper in here. We don’t have a lot of space, so things are tucked into every corner. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. My wife helps me with the accounts in the evening. We get a lot of workers from the nearby areas stopping by for their weekly supplies. Dhanbad is a dusty place, so we are always cleaning the jars. We sell the basic things people need for cooking. Salt, turmeric, mustard oil, that kind of thing. The lights in the complex flicker sometimes, but we have a small torch handy. We don't really do advertisements. The name Janki Kirana Store is just painted on a board outside. It’s enough for the locals to find us. Dealing with the wholesalers takes up a lot of my morning. You have to bargain a bit to get a fair price. We try to keep the prices steady for our regulars. It’s hard work standing all day, but it’s what we do. Sometimes the kids come in and ask for free candy, and I might give them one if they are polite. It's just a regular neighborhood kirana store. We hope to stay here for many more years as long as the complex remains standing.
