Ganapati Kirana

Ganapati Kirana is based out of Kendua on the Bokaro Road in Kusunda. This part of Dhanbad is always moving because of the mines and the big road nearby. We are a typical kirana store, so we keep things like bags of rice, different kinds of lentils, and cooking oils. Our address in 828116 is easy to spot if you are driving towards Bokaro. The shop is a bit old now and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. We spend a lot of our time weighing out items for customers who prefer to buy in bulk. It gets very dusty here because of the heavy traffic on the main road, so we are always cleaning the counters. We don’t have any corporate backing or big investors. It is just a local shop run by local people. We know the names of most people who come in. Sometimes the power goes out in Kusunda and we have to work by candlelight or a small battery lamp. That’s just how life is in this part of Jharkhand. We don’t try to be anything special. We just provide the basic ingredients people need to cook their meals at home. It’s a humble place and we like the rhythm of the daily work. Every morning we sweep the front and get ready for whoever might come through the door to buy their groceries for the day.
