Dilip Generals Store

Our store is in Bartand, Dhanbad, right by the Pandit Clinic. It’s a handy spot because people coming to see the doctor often need to pick up a few things on their way out. We’ve been here for quite some time now. The shelves are packed with all sorts of household items, from soap to cooking oil. It might look a bit cluttered to some, but I know exactly where everything is. My son helps me manage the stock when he’s not busy with his own things. We don't have air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that works hard in the summer. Dhanbad can get quite warm, so we try to keep the shop cool for the customers. We get our deliveries every few days. Sometimes the truck can't find parking near the clinic so we have to carry the boxes ourselves. It’s just how it is in this part of town. We know the local families and what they usually need. If someone is short a few rupees, they pay us back the next day. That’s how business works here. We aren't a supermarket, just a local general store. We keep the lights on until late so people can grab what they forgot during the day. It's a steady life and we're happy being part of the Bartand community. There’s a small stool in the corner where I sit when there aren’t any customers.
