Chourasia General Store

Chourasia General Store is located near the Kendua Pool in Kusunda. This part of Dhanbad is always moving because of the bridge and the roads meeting here. Our store isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a regular shop with a metal shutter. We keep the usual things people need like biscuits, batteries, tea leaves, and snacks. The location near the pool means we get a lot of people passing through who are on their way somewhere else. They stop for a quick bottle of water or a pack of something. It’s a noisy spot because of the trucks and the motorcycles constantly going by. We’ve got used to the sound, though. Inside, the space is a bit tight because we try to fit as much stock as possible on the wooden shelves. There’s usually a bit of dust because of the road, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. We don't have a website or any of that, we just stay open and wait for people to come in. The weather affects us a lot; when it rains, the area around the pool gets muddy and things slow down. But on sunny days, it’s non-stop. We’ve been in this community for many years, so we’ve seen the roads get paved and the buildings go up. It’s a simple life, just minding the counter and talking to the people who live around Kendua. We just keep doing what we do.
