Chndan Kirana Store

Chndan Kirana Store is located on Bhaga Road in Jharia, right near the Bus Stand Number 4. If you know Dhanbad, you know Jharia is a place that’s always moving. Being so close to the bus stand means we get a lot of people who are just traveling through and need something quick like a packet of chips or some water. But we also serve the families who live nearby. We keep all the standard kirana items like rice, sugar, and various dals. The shop is a bit old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. There is always a lot of coal dust in the air in this region so we have to clean the jars and counters almost every hour. It’s just how things are here in Dhanbad. The noise from the buses and the conductors shouting is the background music of my day. I usually have a tea stall nearby bring me some chai while I wait for customers. It’s a very basic setup with a few benches and wooden racks. I don’t use any computers for billing, just a simple notebook and a pen. People like it that way because it’s personal. I know most of my customers by name and we usually chat about the local news while I pack their bags. It’s an honest way to make a living.
