We are over in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, with the pin code 828202. This Afcons office is pretty much what you’d expect for this part of the country. It’s rugged and focused on the work at hand. Dhanbad is known for its industries, and we fit right into that environment. Our space is filled with project files, old site photos, and a lot of coffee mugs. We don’t have a professional decorator or fancy furniture. It’s just sturdy tables and chairs that can handle the wear and tear. We are usually busy coordinating things for the field. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking on supplies. The air in Dhanbad is heavy with the smell of industry, and we are right in the middle of it. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a calendar with deadlines circled in red. The people here are hard workers who don’t talk more than they have to. We get in early and usually stay late if a project needs it. It’s not a corporate headquarters where people wear ties. Most of us are in work shirts and sturdy boots. We’ve been in this part of Jharkhand for a while now. We know the local roads and the local challenges. It’s just a practical, no-nonsense office where the main goal is to get the day's work done without any trouble. It takes a bit of grit to work in this industry.
