Dewas Welfare Association

We are set up at number 03 in the Gajra Gears Colony in Dewas. It’s a quiet spot for the most part, which we like. The Dewas Welfare Association was formed because we felt the colony and the surrounding area needed a bit more attention. We aren't a big agency with lots of funding. We are mostly just residents who care about what happens on our streets. Our office is a small room that we’ve converted for this purpose. It’s got a few chairs and a cupboard full of supplies. We spend a lot of time walking around and talking to the people who live here. We don't have a website with flashy photos or anything like that. We just talk to people face to face. If something needs fixing or if someone is having a hard time, we try to see how we can help. It’s not always successful, and sometimes we run out of time or resources, but we keep at it. Living and working in the same colony makes it easy to see the results of what we do. It’s a bit slow-paced compared to the big cities, but that suits our way of working just fine. We know everyone’s names and their kids' names too. It makes the work feel more like a family chore than a job. We just want our little part of Dewas to be okay. We don't ask for much. It’s just a group of us helping out and keeping busy. It is just what we do now.
