Our shop is inside Alankar Market. It is one of those places that is always crowded and a bit noisy, but we like the energy. This shop has been our home for a lot of years now, selling all kinds of clothes and ready-made garments. The shop itself is quite small, so we have to use every bit of space we have. We stack the clothes all the way up to the ceiling on these metal shelves. I have a wooden stool that I use to reach the stuff at the top, though it wobbles a bit more than it should. We don’t really go for those fancy window displays you see in the big malls. We just put out what we have and let people look through the piles. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day long. We know all the other shop owners in the market, so we spend a lot of time talking and sharing news from the neighborhood. It’s a friendly place to be, even if it gets a bit cramped when there are more than three customers inside. We don’t really have a set schedule for new arrivals; we just get things in when we can. If you are looking for something specific, you usually have to ask because it’s probably buried under something else. We just like running the shop and seeing the same faces every week. It’s just a normal local business and we are happy here.
