Madhu Ice & Agar Factory

Our factory is located right on Railway Feeder Road in Pamban. It is very close to the railway station so you can hear the trains all day long. We deal with ice and agar here. It is cold work in the ice section and then there is the agar side of things. Pamban is a unique place to work with the sea nearby. Madhu Ice & Agar Factory has been a part of this road for quite some time. The building is old and we keep it running every day. Dealing with ice means we are always moving heavy blocks around. It gets wet and messy but that is the job. The agar production takes its own time. We see a lot of people coming from the station area. The Railway Feeder Road is always busy with trucks and people. We do not have any fancy signs or big advertisements. People around Pamban just know where we are. It is a practical business. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. By the time the afternoon trains come through we are usually deep into the work. It is a bit loud and the air smells like the coast. That is just how life is at the factory. We just keep the machines running and the ice moving out to whoever needs it today. The floor is usually covered in water from the melting blocks but we just wear our boots and keep going.
