Brats N Cuties

You can find us right across from the Durga Mandir on the By Pass Road in Deoghar. It is a very busy area, especially when there are festivals at the temple. We hear the bells and the traffic from the bypass all day long. The school is a place where the local kids spend their time while their parents are at work. We call the place Brats N Cuties. It is a bit of a funny name, but it seems to fit the energy of the children who come here. Some days are definitely harder than others when the kids are feeling restless or the weather is too hot. We have a few rooms and a small area for them to move around and play. Being in Jharkhand, we get the seasons very clearly, so we deal with the cold winters and the very dusty summers. The bypass road always has trucks and buses moving by, so it’s never really quiet outside. We try to keep the inside as calm as we can. It’s just us and the students every day. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. We just open the doors every morning and get to work. We talk to the parents when they come by to pick up their kids. Most of them live within a few kilometers of the school. It’s a very local thing. We see the same faces every single day. We’ve got some posters on the walls and plenty of chalk for the boards. We do our best to keep things tidy, but with kids, that’s a losing battle. It’s just how it goes here.
