Arvind Furniture House

Arvind Furniture House is on Dumka Road in B Deoghar Ho. It is a place where we spend our days cutting wood and making things. We don't have a big fancy showroom. You mostly see sawdust on the floor and half-finished chairs against the walls. It’s a bit noisy because of the saws, but that is how a workshop should be. We’ve been here for several years now. People from the neighborhood come by when they need a new bed or maybe a sturdy table for their kitchen. We use simple tools and try to pick out the best wood we can find. Sometimes the work takes a bit longer if the weather is damp. We don't have any professional sales people. If you come in, you just talk to one of us who is actually making the furniture. It’s a practical way to live. We have our tea breaks out front and watch the traffic go by on Dumka Road. The sign outside is getting a bit old, but everyone knows where we are anyway. We aren't trying to be some huge factory. It’s just a local shop where we work with our hands every day. We hope the things we make stay in people’s homes for a long time. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening. That’s about all there is to it.
