Vishnu Mahila Mandal Shg

This is Vishnu Mahila Mandal Shg. We are based in Demudi, right here in the Bokaro district. It’s a group of women from the village who wanted to work together. We have a small place in Demudi where we gather every morning. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be careful about where we put things. Most of our work is done by hand, and it can be quite tiring by the end of the day. We don't use any big words or have fancy titles. Everyone just does what they are good at. Some are better at the sewing or the making part, and others are better at keeping the books. We've had some trouble with the electricity lately, so we do a lot of work by the windows for the light. It’s a bit dusty because of the roads nearby, but we clean up every evening before we go. We aren't a big company with a boss. We just decide things together. It takes longer that way, but it feels fairer. We just want to keep our families going and have a little bit of our own money. People in Bokaro know we are hard workers. We don't make any big promises, we just show up and do the job that’s in front of us. That’s how we've always done things.
