Yans Store

Our shop, Yans Store, is located at No. 1609 right on the Main Bazar in Paharganj. If you know Paharganj, you know it’s a chaotic place with tourists and locals always moving about. We’ve been right in the middle of that for a long time. The shop is small, and every inch of wall space is covered with something for sale. It’s a bit cramped, but that’s how we like it. We sell a mix of things that people usually need when they are passing through or living nearby. I start my day early, sweeping the front and setting up the displays on the sidewalk. The noise from the street never really stops, but after a few years, you just stop hearing the horns and the shouting. We aren't some big chain store. It’s just me and one other person helping out. We talk to people from all over the world who wander in. Some buy something, some just ask for directions. We try to be helpful. The shelves are a bit old and they creak, but they hold everything just fine. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. People just see the sign and walk in. It’s a basic life, running a store in such a busy neighborhood. We just take it one day at a time and hope the electricity stays on.
