Inspire Plants

If you go opposite the Yamuna Bank Metro Station, you’ll find us at Beauty Nursery. That’s where Inspire Plants is located. It’s quite a contrast to the metal and concrete of the metro tracks just a short distance away. We spend a lot of our time with dirt under our fingernails and water on our boots. Being so close to the station means there’s always the sound of trains passing by in the background. It’s something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We keep busy moving pots around and making sure everything gets enough sun. The weather is always a big factor for us here. When it rains, we’re out there making sure nothing gets flooded. On hot days, we’re constantly checking the soil. People usually drop by when they’re heading to or from the metro to look at what's growing. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just rows of green and brown. We talk to the plants sometimes, though maybe we shouldn't admit that in public. It's a simple life. We don't have a big team or a lot of complicated machines. Most of what we do is done by hand. The nursery is our main focus from early morning until the sun goes down. It gets a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep the leaves clean. It’s hard work, but being outside beats sitting in a stuffy office.
