Old Lajpat Rai Market is a crazy place if you aren't used to it. Our shop, Vinod Electronics, is at number 808. If you walk through Chandni Chowk, you know how crowded it gets. We are surrounded by hundreds of other shops selling all kinds of wires and gadgets. Our space is pretty small, packed to the ceiling with boxes of components and spare parts. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly, but we know where everything is. Usually, there are a few of us behind the counter testing things or talking to customers who need a specific part for a repair. We have been in this market for a long time. You hear the sounds of the crowd and the sellers calling out all day long. It is not the kind of place where you find peace and quiet. We spend most of our time opening boxes or looking for that one tiny transistor someone asked for. It is a very hands-on kind of job. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there with a flashlight until it comes back. That is just how life is in the old market. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just open the shutter in the morning and see who comes by. It’s a simple life selling electronics in one of the busiest spots in the city. We have seen many shops come and go.
