You can find us on the 2nd floor of Chutani Manzil, which is building number 3516 on Nicholson Road in Mori Gate. It’s one of those old buildings with stairs that have seen a lot of feet over the decades. Being in Mori Gate means we are right in the middle of all the trade and the constant honking of rickshaws outside. Our office is filled with stacks of papers and samples of the things we sell. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we have a system that works for us. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers and customers. Sometimes the connection isn't great, so we end up shouting a bit to be heard over the street noise. We have a small kettle for making tea and that's usually going most of the afternoon. People drop in without calling first, which is fine because that’s just how business happens here. The walls are lined with wooden cupboards that are probably older than I am. We don't have a lot of space for fancy furniture or decorations. It’s a practical office for a practical business. We deal with the paperwork, handle the sales, and try to keep up with the pace of the market. When the sun starts to set, the shadows in Chutani Manzil get long and we start wrapping up the day’s records. It’s a long climb up those stairs every morning, but it’s home to us.
